geometry help! immedeitly!?
the large cylingrical barn shown at the right has a cylingrical attic. the main building cyinder has radius of 40 ft and hieght of 35 ft. the attic cylinder has a radius of 4ft and hieght of 6ft. asume the main buliding roof has the same circumfrenece as the main building cylinder. the attic roof could combine with the main buliding roof to form a single cone with slant hieght 50 ft. wood shingles for the cylngrical sies of the barn and attic cost $65 per bundle and tar shingles for the roof costs $50 per bundle. each type of bundle covers 100 sq. feet. how much would it cost for the materials to reshingle the barn?
theres like 5 of us trying to figure this out and we cant!
help please! thanks!
There's alot of information in this question!
The surface area of the cone (not including the base) is given by the formula:
A^ = π r s = π (40) (50) = 2000π ≈ 6283
The surface area of the big cylinder (not including the bases) is given by the formula:
AC = 2 π r h = 2 π (40) (35) = 2800π ≈ 8797
and the little one:
Ac = 2 π r h = 2 π (4) (6) = 48π ≈ 151
So the area for wood shingles is:
A^ + AC + Ac ≈ 6283 + 8797 + 151 = 15231
The area for tar shingles is only:
A^ = 6283
So for wood shingles, you need 153 bundles, and for tar, 63. You have to round up to the nearest hundred! That makes a total cost of:
153×($65) + 63×($50) = $13,095
