Why do Leviton toggle switches have different finishes?

All the switches in my house are Leviton ivory toggles, approximately 20 years old. The material of the toggle is a glossy phenolic. I like the positive "whap" it makes, assuring you that you've flipped it. The new ivory switches (10-pack in blue box) are matte finish and feel crappy to flip. The almonds, on the other hand, are constructed in the same fashion as the old ivory's, but look too light in an ivory plate. In order to get that quality finish in an ivory, I have to go up to "preferred" grade, with back-wire non-stab clamps and self-grounding which I don't need. Is this a deliberate marketing ploy aimed at OCD electricians? Anybody else run into this situation?

Ivory and almond have a very dated look. Everyone I work for takes these out and replaces with white, A lot of them are also switching to slide dimmers to save power.
