Is there any specific kind of wall padding to put in the room of a child with autism?

I just began working with a young man with autism and he has literally knocked gigantic (like the size of a car windshield) holes in his bedroom walls. His parents have to fix the wall, but regular drywall or paneling will be destroyed, bricks can cause too much harm to him. We are throwing around the idea to put up some kind of huge padding that cannot be destroyed and the young man will not be injured.

we had to put up something called "bubble board" in our son's room. it is tough. my son would put his head through the drywall and also plywood. he has not been able to bust the bubble board yet and also he has not hurt himself .
